3 style tips for autumn outfits

It's a quick post from me today because I'm chasing the sun and heading away for a few days so I thought I'd leave you with some wardrobe styling homework as there won't be a post next Friday. I'm bringing you 3 style tips for autumn outfits - they will interest those of you who enjoy a bit of forensic outfit structuring and for those who don't, there are 3 outfit combinations to help you to get in sync [...]

Casual chic for country life

Hello, it's a surprise me popping up on a Tuesday I know but I'm heading away this weekend so my schedule's all mixed up. I have a new try-on for you today - this time I'm wearing White Stuff my way. Every so often somebody will write in and ask me to show more of my village life at home so that they can see how I do casual chic for country life. The thing is that when I'm [...]

M&S – what’s in store for AW24?

So here we are, this weekend brings with it the autumn equinox. As I type I'm looking out at a garden shrouded in early morning mist, the apple tree is heavy with fruit but it's been a poor year for the pears. The morello cherries have gone to the birds... again. There's a single day where the fruit suddenly turns sweet and somehow they know. As I mentioned last week, after being reminded that we don't have endless autumns in [...]

Midlife lately – summer lived to the full

From this week's weather it would appear that summer is completely over (9 degrees here!) and I haven't kept my blog up to date with what we've been doing. However there's no denying that the evenings are cooler and it's getting darker much earlier - autumn is on its way. There will be a day soon when you suddenly realise that the wardrobe turnover is due and so today's [...]

About Me

Hi, I’m Nikki Garnett, for 9 years I was the editor of Selfridges’ magazine. Now I’m married with 3 sons, 2 cats and a dog called Ted. I live near the Lake District in the North West of England and run a small creative agency with my husband.

I created Midlifechic because a little while ago, amidst all the chaos of family and working life, I was beginning to feel like I’d lost my groove. So this is for anyone else out there who is emerging from the child centred years and looking forward to beginning a whole new chapter.
